Artist Statement: New, Condensed and Rough

Attempting to identify a correlation between technological progress and the marginalization of our society's relationship with our environment is at the core of my practice. Synthetic objects and imagery that refer to crude origins and plagiaristic representations of the natural serve to maintain a relationship with nature under controlled circumstances. Sculptural and image based methods are combined to identify and explore ways in which the image can be reconfigured into a 3-dimensional form in order to distinguish the difference between viewing and experiencing our environment. These works function as satire of my own personal desire to surround myself with objects and imagery that are seemingly derivative of nature.
